How old is the exhaust? It occurs to me that a rusted muffler might have a piece of metal broken off inside that is intermittently blocking exhaust flow. This would be unlikely if you have duals. The other thing, did you change the coil when you changed the distributor? I had a coil start going bad...

fuel pressure is good, not sure about volume though, i dont really have a way to check that... when i did the pump/filter i also upgraded the connectors and wires and checked the harness for any broken wires, cuz i thought that may be an issue in the dry desert air.... i have not checked any program...

sounds like excessive gear backlash or possible knife edging...

up on jacks, trans in neutral, spin the drive shaft back and forth, if the wear is excessive - it will be sloppy - you should only feel a small "dead" spot

im actually building a house for my mom - inside a 60x40 pole barn.

im using 2x8s for the loft area with 2 layers of 5/8 plywood for floors - completely open and nothing load bearing so kinda apples to oranges....

if you can space out the 2x10 @16" OC to meet code, i dont see why it wouldnt work...
