Photochromic window tint

Anyone ever try this stuff? I don't like window tint because you have to roll the windows down to park at night (I always back in to park) but this stuff looks like it solves that problem. It also looks like it does a pretty good job of heat rejection, if their website is to be believed. ... onal-film/

Seems like it would be nice to use. Not sure how long it would last and which way it would "fail" - either in "dark" mode or "light" mode.

Bet it's not inexpensive either.

How about regular dark tint and get a rear view camera?

The Tahoe has medium tint put on by the previous owner, and a rear view camera. During the day the camera has perfect picture quality but at night it resembles this. Posting the link to the pic, as it's a big one. ... a-1600.jpg

yeah, that camera isn't so good. Mine works great at night, but I think it uses IR light and isn't just a camera. Maybe a new camera would help with solving this?

Possibly, but I'm still interested in whether the tint is worthwhile.

That's cool. Going to have it installed or diy?

Installed. I've tried installing it myself before, in a former house. If I can't get it right with full access on a flat piece of glass...

understood. that stuff is hard to put on. read a lot on it and it seems the guys who install it for a living use a greater amount of dish washing detergent than is recommended by the manufacturer of the tint. it seems like the best way is always a little different than what the manufacturer's recommend.

That is pretty cool. Now we just need something similar for the paint job. Get a scratch, the paint self-heals itself.

Sadly, no. Covid killed minor stuff like this.
