You ought to see what I have to deal with here in Oklahoma. In winter, all the 4x4 drivers except me get out there to prove how good they are in the snow by driving 80+MPH bumper to bumper even though they only see it about 10 days out of the year. Not far down the road there they'll be, all spun out and surprised looking. The day after a hard snow, the center median usually has a few tire trees planted on hills in the median. These will be the 4x4s that rolled over, then were covered with snow. The only vehicle more common to be wiped out in the snow than the 4x4 is the front wheel drive car, who don't realize that being able to start under control in the snow doesn't mean you can stop under control. All of these nuts forget that putting the brakes on only makes the tires stop turning, it doesn't necessarily mean the car will stop moving.

You can expand that to the people of America.
Traction control implies traction... :)

people tend to drive beyond their ability. If they don't have good traction to get going, it makes them safer by default.

Tonight, -13F, wind chill factor -30, ice forms on the road from exhaust vapor.

I always listen to trafic radio lately.
Warning: spun car ahead blocking right lane. The road is pure ice.

I ease off the throttle. people zip by me @ 60 in 40 zone. Chistmas lights all over again. All red no white exept for that spun Camaro. Stability control control working over time tonight... But not on a 97 Camaro... :'(

TBIâ„¢ laughs at ABS. When TBIâ„¢ wants to stop it doesn't apply the brakes, it alters planetary movement.

If you're going to get out of your car after a crash on the highway, don't just stand next to it. Go to a safe place or better, put up some flares if you want to risk your life....

Way too much speed there...

You'd be amazed. When I wrecked my S10 there was a baby in the back of the car I hit. Thank God the kid was buckled in on the passenger side. I could see the individual hairs on that kid's head right before the hit, that's how tightly my eyes focused when I saw that car seat. I wasn't even speeding either, was going slower than I normally did through that intersection. If I'd been going my normal speed I'd either not have been in that accident, or I'd have hit a Ford crewcab dually pulling a trailer.
